Syracuse Heritage Days

For the Syracuse Heritage Days parade people started
saving seats the afternoon before.  Crazy specially
since the parade is made up of, advertisements, Dance
companies and a few school groups.  There was only
one float which was from a donut place and by the
time they got to us which was only half way they
were out of the free donuts they were handing out.
Kind of a bummer parade as usual but the kids
enjoy the candy.  Brandon was out of town for
youth conference so at 6:30 I got up and ran over to
try and grab a spot in the shade for us during the
parade.   My sister and her daughter Emery
watched it with us.

My favorite part of the parade was the random
Princesses through out the parade walking.
Princess Bell was nice enough to snap a picture
with my girls.

After the parade we went home to get our choirs done
and then we blew up the water slide and the kids
and their friends played all day.
After a day in the sun we headed back over to the
park to hear my dad play in his band.
I liked just sitting here listening and the kids
did pretty good granted we brought their parade
candy to keep them busy.  Two of my sisters
joined us as well.  Kami and Karissa.

My dad plays bass and is on the right in the black
shirt.  Oh my gosh it was one hundred degrees
that day and even the shade it was uncomfortable.
But the band, Echo sounded good.
My dad even played a little on the keyboard for
a few songs.  I think he liked having some of his
daughters there to watch.

Not that we wanted to spend a fortune on the dumb
old rides but I promised the kids and I love seeing
them giggle and smile.  Which Owen and Sierra
did on the small roller coaster.

Last Day of School

My girls had their last day of the
2012-2013 school year.
And man were we all ready and excited!

Sierra and her sweetest teacher ever,
Mrs.  Poulsen

Sierra had such a fun good year!
I was able to volunteer every week
and help her and her class mates read.
Mrs. Poulsen was always so sweet
and positive with Sierra and so sweet
to Owen.  She let him participate in
the class parties and she did not mind
when Owen sometimes wanted
to sit by Sierra and listen to the story
she read.

Paige and her teacher Mrs. Imler
who unfortunately won't be her at Bluff Ridge next
year. Paige had a good year and is completely 100%
ready for 2nd grade.

We were unable to get a Picture of Riley with her Teacher,
Mrs.  Tatro because she missed the last few days of school.

Like I said before we were all ready for summer and so excited
that it was the last day of school.  We got a little silly from our
excitement.  Even Owen wanted to join in.

Supper Club

Me and some of my friends had a nice night out
on Beck street at the Garage for dinner.  It was
delicious and fun!
My good friends started a supper club at the beginning
of the year for 8 couples.  Some I knew well others not at all
and now I have gained better friends through it all as well
as tasted and tried things I never would have in the past.
It is so fun to visit restaurants I've never heard of.  I can't
even pronounce some of the things I ordered and I even
tried calamari.  We go every month but
on this particular night only 3 couples could go.

This restaurant had dining in or out.  And we loved
how casual it was and that our napkins were those
grease rags used for working on cars.  Love it!
I need to remember to take pictures of each
 time we go out.

Third Grade Economic Fair

The 3rd grade at school had their annual Economic Fair.
Riley chose to do nails as her store.  She called it,
"Riley's Nail Salon".  She made her own poster
and girls payed their school money to get their
nails done.  Riley was so sweet and used some
of her school money to buy stuff for her siblings.
It was on a Friday so Brandon was able to come with
me to check it out.

Dinosaur Field Trip

Paige had a field trip at the Dinosaur park in Ogden.
I was glad to take off work to be with Paige.  Owen
tagged along as well.  They got to learn about
dinosaurs and make a paper one as well.

Paige had her friends Cameron and Sydney in our
group.  Owen did not seem to be afraid of any
dinosaurs until we came to the mechanical one
in the building and then he would not even go close
to the fence.

All the kids spent most of their time digging for
bones then any where else.  Not sure why but they
loved it.

Owen specifically asked for me to take his
picture under the big dinosaurs belly.
I love his pose.  He thinks he is so cool.

Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day to my Sweet Heart
and how lucky he is.  His kids love him
and they are the cutest kids ever.  They were
so excited to give him his presents.

The men got chocolate bars at church for Fathers Day
which Brandon shared with the girls.  I keep asking
him why they don't give us women chocolate
on Mothers Day.
Don't they realize we love chocolate and we
stash it way in our house for those moments
when our kids are too much or we've had a hard day.
Women Love Chocolate!

Anyway after church Brandon had a meeting.
Yes on Fathers Day.  Poor Faithful Guy!
The kids then gave him his presents and
then we met up with our friends at pine view
for a bit.  Of course you don't plan to swim and tell your
kids to only get their feet wet and they end up waist down
wet.  Oh well!

Then we came back home to have
a yummy dinner.  We invited Brandon's sister
Katie over because her husband was out of
town for work.

A quick get away

This weekend it was just our family at the cabin.
No cousins are grandparents.  Of course we love
it when everyone is up there but is was kind of nice
just with the kids.  Owen however did ask where
Grandma and Grandpa were when we got there.

We went up on Friday afternoon and roasted hot
dogs on the fire and of course had smores.  Then
for fun Brandon and I played our child hood game,
"Kick the Can".  In our case it was a plastic
cup but all the same!  The kids did not want it to end.
Plus it warmed us up running.  It was a bit chilly that
night.  I for some reason always got caught and had
to warm up by the fire!

Paige and Sierra loved climbing all over the rocks.

Owen cuddled with me by the fire.

Next morning we got up and did a bit of yard work.
The kids were eager to help Brandon!

And of course how could a mom say no to such
a beautiful bouquet of wild flowers (weeds) from
my sweet girls!

After work we packed up and went to the beach.
It turned out to be such a beautiful perfect day.
It was the perfect temp to lay out on the beach.
Which is what Brandon and I did.  The water is always
cold but the kids did not mind.

Teeth--Hair--Bike Ride

The girls had Dentist appointments and I did not  plan
on Owen getting his teeth cleaned I just hoped he
would watch them so I could explain to him that
he would have his turn the next time.  But for fun
we asked him if he wanted his teeth cleaned and
to sit in the chair.  He said, "Yes"
and climbed in the chair.
So the hygienist layed him back and Owen
still was fine laying there.  In fact when she laid the
chair back he opened his mouth automatically.
We were all surprised, specially me since the girls
all had a hard time sitting there their first time.
So Owen got a full cleaning and he even let the
Dentist look at his teeth.
I think the T.V. above him helped and the
free tooth brush kit!
We asked him what he wanted to watch on Netflix
and he told us, Power Rangers.  Of course!

After the dentist we headed off to get the girls hair cuts.
It's been years over due.  I had been trying to convince
the girls to take off more then a inch and they all said no
but when we got to the salon Sierra said she wanted
her hair up to her chin and Riley said she wanted it just
past her shoulders.  Paige still would not budge and just
got a small trim.  Until we got home she cried and said
she wanted her hair shorter.  I think she was just jealous
that the girls got so much attention because their
hair cut was more noticeable.

Their hair before the hair cut was a little bit longer then Paige's
in this picture.  So they cut off a few inches.

Right after the hair cuts Riley and Brandon took off for a
Daddy Daughter Activity Day Bike Ride and picnic in the
park.  It was so windy but they had a good time.
Plus they got Subway which is one of Riley's favorite!

Tucking the kids in bed

So this is how I found Owen before I went to
bed.  I always check on my kids again before
I make it to bed.  And it's a good thing I do
because more often then not this is how I find
Owen.
 I love it!

First Week of June

In the first week of JUNE the fun already began and
we were all ready for summer.

June 2nd
Bailee came to visit and Owen loved that!

June 4th
Sierra had a school lunch practice with her Kindergarten
class in preparation for 1st grade.  They gave Owen
his own hotdog as well.  Those poor Kindergarteners
they don't know how to open anything and they can't reach
all the food anyway.  Plus some don't really read well
and can't find the food they are looking for.
I might have to go to lunch with Sierra a bit until
she figures it out.  Specially to make her eat her food
since lunch prices went up.  Dang.

June 5th
Paige had her first Piano lesson.  She was so excited!
I just hope we can both make it through the first few
months of lessons.  Those are the hardest.  The kids
want to and almost expect to be so good and don't realize
it takes practice and hard work to get better.
And I hate bugging them to practice.  It was rough
with Riley and so I assume the same with Paige.
But now Riley gets up every morning and plays on
her own.  Love it!

June 8th
Well I told the kids if they got up Saturday
Morning and got their house work done
quickly I'd blow up the water slide.
They had a hard time hurrying but
eventually got it done after lunch.
Man what does it take to motivate kids
to work these days.  Seriously!
We invited cousins over to play and
the only ones that could come were
the wickers.  They all had a good time.
Even sweet baby Jace.  And Riley
got to take him in side after swimming
and play (babysit) him.  She loved
that Aunt Kaite trusted her to
watch him while she stayed out
side with the rest of us.

Spencer got some great pictures of the girls in action!
