Dinner and a show

For the first half of the New Year
Week End we visited my mom in Idaho.
Grandpa and Grandma Avery took us,
and my other siblings and their families
to a fun dinner and show.
The night started with a wagon ride.
The girls loved it but Owen hated every
minute. He does not like to be close to
horses. We bundled up warm and wore
our hats that Skyla made us.

The wagons took us to a huge barn for
a delicious prime rib dinner with all the works.
While we were eating we got entertained
by a show of comedy and music.
Afterwards we headed back and Paige
got to hold the horse reigns. She really
thought she was driving the horse team.
So cute!

We went back to Grandma's house to open
presents since we did not get to see them over
Christmas. It was late and the kids were tired
but they were too excited to Visit Grandma's
house and open presents to go to bed.

We did not get to stay long this time around.
We headed out the next morning after breakfast
to Bear Lake to spend the last part of the
new year weekend with Brandon's family.

Christmas Day 2011

Paige and Sierra sleep down stairs and we did
not want them to wake up and come up stairs
and see the presents before waking us up so
we put the phone by Paige's bed so when she
woke up she could call us so Brandon could
go down and get them. The only problem is
Paige was too excited. I was sound asleep
when the phone rang in my room at 3:30 in
the morning. I had to explain to Paige that
the sun was not up yet and to go back to bed.
An hour later the phone rang again. I told
her again it was still too early. And she
hung up and went back to bed. Or so I thought.
She then called me at 6:00 and cried when
I said that I really wanted Owen to sleep a
little longer and to try to go back to bed for
another hour. She cried because she never
went back to bed after the first call at
3 in the morning. I felt so bad. She
was going to be so tired. So I
went down stairs to tuck her back
in and help her go to sleep. Now I needed
her to sleep more then an hour since she had
been up half the night.
After she finally fell asleep. Riley woke up
at 7:30 and was ready to open presents.
We brought the girls up stairs but
waited a little longer to wake up Owen.
The girls got their stockings that Santa
put in their rooms and brought them to
empty out on our bed.
Of course I want to snap pictures because
they are always so excited and smiley.
Owen was so good at smiling at the camera
but my camera light was too bright
for just waking up so he would just smile
and close his eyes.

I wish I had a better picture. We take one
right before they go into the living room
every Christmas morning. But it was out
of focus and Owen did not want to sit
down. In stead he just cried and realized
he was still tired.

The girls were thrilled about their new
Trampoline Santa brought them.

Owen had such a fun time opening his presents.
Almost everything he got was some how Elmo
related. He loves Elmo! When he opened a present
and saw a little bit of Elmo he would start squealing
with delight.

He just sat still for a while with each present
and just stared at it. He was content to just read
his Elmo books all morning.

He loved his tools and tool bench
he got from Santa.

He got right to work and knew just what to do.

I'm so glad we had church at 1:00 since
it fell on Sunday this year. That way
the kids could enjoy their presents a
little before they had to get ready for church.
It is always fun trying to get a good
family picture each year on Christmas
Sunday by the tree in our Sunday best.
We had to put Owen's Elmo stuffed
animal on the tripod by the camera
so Owen would smile for the picture.
I think it worked great!

I love this picture of my cute kids!

And I love my sweet Husband!

The rest of the day was being with family and
opening present after present. My kids are
so spoiled.
After church we went to my dad's house to visit.
Sierra is at the age where she loves anything
she gets.

Paige was so excited to get the Happy Napper
she really wanted. And for the rest of the day
she had to show everyone how it worked.

After my dads house we went to Brandon's
parents house to visit and have dinner.
Owen's expression in this picture
makes me laugh.

Grandma knows her grand kids all too well.
Riley was thrilled she got a magic kit. The rest
of the night she performed tricks for us all.

All the girls got remote control cars.
However Paige and Sierra had to take turns
since their cars were on the same control
frequency. It was fun to watch Paige's car
in the living room move to Sierra's controls
from the kitchen!

Christmas Eve 2011

We had a fun time at Brandon's Parents
house for Christmas Eve. This year
Grandma had different activities for us to
do then what we've done in the past. We did
a present swap game which she provided all
the wrapped presents for us which was nice!
Then the four couples had to work together
to wrap a present with one hand each. The
kids got to judge who's present looked the best.

Then we split into teams and had to carry
a marshmallow on a spoon to a table from
a bowl across the room and then glue it
to a paper to create a snowman.

This one was a little tricky. We also were in teams
and had to take turns unwrapping Hershey kisses
with gloves on and fill the bowl. The kids just
unwrapped them and ate them!

Then we had a beautiful yummy dinner with
Grandma's sister Annie and her family and
Great Grandpa LeCheminant and his wife.
After dinner we all tried to ring the bells to
the right color to make music. That was pretty
funny and loud! Can you tell Riley is
concentrating very hard.

We kept the tradition of acting out the nativity
story from the scriptures. Great Grandpa read
from the scriptures. Riley got to be Mary.
Owen was Joseph and was pretty good about
leaving his robe on. Brandon and his brother
Jeff for some reason always get roped into
being the shepherds. Sierra, Paige and Bailee
were angels.

And what good sports Eli, Jonah and Abe were
to be the three wise men.
It was a wonderful night to reflect on Christ's
Birth and to be together as a family.

We headed home so Santa could visit our home.
The girls opened their traditional present
from Mom and Dad. Even though they have
figured we get them Pajamas for their
Christmas Eve Present they still
get excited to see what they look like. Some
years they match and some they don't.
This year I procrastinated a little and they
shipped to my house the day before in a
Disney box so the girls had a little idea.
But they loved them!

Riley's Christmas Piano Recital

Riley had her first Piano Recital in front
of an audience other then her family and a few
people. She did an excellent job and I'm so proud
of her. She said she was so nervous.
She got to pick two songs to perform.
Jingle Bells she played as a duet with her teacher
and then played Jolly Old St. Nicholas as a
solo.

Riley's "Movie Night" Party

I threw Riley a Birthday Party
with her friends. She has not had
one since she was five so I thought
it was time.
She wanted a "Movie Night" party.
This is the invite she gave to all her
friends.

They all came in their Pajamas and brought
a pillow. They ate Pizza for dinner

Played a few games and Riley opened
her presents.

They got cozy to watch the movie
"Life Size". It is an older movie that
none of them have heard of but Riley
and her sisters love it so that was the pick
for the night. It is about a barbie doll coming to
life and helping a girl find happiness in life.
They each got their own Popcorn bag,
pop and candy.

After the movie they played a few rounds
of freeze dance until it was time to go. Riley
sent them all home with a popcorn cupcake.

Ready to go...

Paige and Sierra are so cute!
They came to me one morning and
asked to take their picture. They thought
they were so cute with all their gear.
I guess they were pretending to go camping
with their back packs, flashlights and snow stuff.

Riley's Special Day

My sweet Riley turned 8!
And on her birthday she got to get
Baptized!
She was so excited to get baptized!
I made her a Baptism book for her
to write about her baptism and
to put pictures in it. It also had
a place for friends and family to
write in in.
I was so happy and filled with Joy.
The minute I walked into the church
that day and saw some family
members the tears started to flow.
That morning my dear friend came
over and did Riley's hair up nice and tight
and so cute for her baptism. She also
did Paige and Sierra's for me too.
I have such awesome friends!
Riley picked the opening and
closing songs for the program.
Her primary teacher, Bro. Raymond
gave a wonderful talk. His wife,
Mandy, the Primary President
had everything prepared and was
so wonderful to support Riley.
Riley was the only one in our ward
getting baptized that day. So it
made it even more special.

Riley loved having her friends there.
Riley, Taebia, Elyssa and Hallie

So many friends and family came
to support Riley on her special day.
We have such great neighbors and family
who were willing to get all dressed up on a
Saturday to come and support Riley,
and for family to drive so far to be there.

These are just a few pictures of those
that came.
Grandpa Corrigan

Uncle Mikel, Aunt Kami and Cousin Emery

Uncle Michael and Aunt Skyla

Aunt Karissa

Grandpa and Grandma Gardner

Great Grandpa Gardner and Lois

Grandpa and Grandma Avery

Great Grandmother and Grandpa Noffsinger

Brenda and Great Grandpa LeCheminant

After Riley's luncheon at the house
we celebrated her birthday.
She asked for strawberry shortcake
with nothing on it. So notice that
sweet Grandma left a section just
for her!

She opened presents. Brandon and I
got her new scriptures with her name
engraved on them. She was so happy!

Grandpa and Grandma G. got her a
beautiful picture of Christ to hang in
her room. That is something she'll
have for ever.

Grandma Avery a week before
her birthday took her out to
pick out her favorite fabric and
made her a blanket.

After it died down a bit and
everyone went home Grandpa
and Grandma Avery treated us all
to lobster and Steak. And Riley
got a birthday dessert.

It was a beautiful day and I'm so
thankful for my sweet Riley.
She is such a good girl and
I'm so proud of her!

I LOVE YOU RILEY!!!
